My name is Lara Milou; I create oil paintings, animated films, illustrations, and poetry.   As a woman with autism and a vivid imagination, I want to give a voice to the outsiders of society through dream worlds (sometimes 'nightmare worlds') with strange characters in them. With this in mind, I also started my series 'Dreamery': a surreal series about an alien -like creature who must find her way in a strange world. I love absurdism, surrealism, and strange art. Often, normality and strangeness play the leading roles in both my films and my paintings/illustrations. 
My work has a dreamy feel, yet it is always rooted in reality and the things I see around me. I also have a strong sense of justice and incorporate my political opinions into my work. Above all, I have a great passion for human rights, feminism, and lately, anti-AI art. I grew to really enjoy digital art during my studies , but I still find a certain sense of tangibility very important. My animation is therefore primarily 2D cutout with hand-painted characters and backgrounds, to which digital elements have been added. 
Hopefully, I can help people become more aware of each other and of the way we are all different, but also alike in so many ways.
